Goodbye 2021! Hello 2022!
I accidentally took a large majority of December off, so you’re getting the first TBR of 2022 now. Later you’ll see a post with my goals and year long TBR, but for now, what am I hoping to read this month.
I don’t know how I want to organize this month’s TBR – For this month I’ll try to put them into a Need to and a Hope to sections.
Books I Need to Read
These will either be buddy/group reads or ARCs for the month.
Girls of Paper and Fire by Natsha Ngan is the first in the Girls of Paper and Fire series, which I’m buddy reading with a bunch of people through TBR and Beyond Book Club on Facebook. It’s also a sub-box book that I’ve had since its release so I need to get it of my TBR shelf.
Near the Bone by Christina Henry is another buddy read, but this one for the horror group on TBR and Beyond Book Club. I’ve only read the Alice duology by Christina Henry (haven’t read the short story collection within the world yet). I loved Alice – it was very dark and gritty and not what I was expecting at all! I own a bunch of her other books, but this isolation/creature horror sounds so interesting. I’m really excited about this – I own most of her books and it’d be nice to start reading more of them.
I loved the Merciful Crow duology and I was beyond excited to get the ARC, but life got in the way and I hadn’t gotten to it on time. Second chance! TBR and Beyond Tours is now doing a buddy read of it and I’ll be joining that 100% (part of the mod team so no excuses this time!). I’ve heard great things too!
I loved The House on the Cerlean Sea, so I have high hopes for Under the Whispering Door. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things, but I don’t know any true detail – and I plan on keeping it that way lol.
All the Feels by Olivia Dade is the buddy read for Swoonalong on TBR and Beyond Book Club. I loved Spoiler Alert and can’t wait to read next in the companion series. It’ll also help me catch up on my arcs lol.
Last of my have to’s is Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan. One of my highly anticipated of 2022 and I was lucky enough to get an arc and be part of the tour hosted by Turn the Page Tours.
Books I Hope to Read
Now that I’ve gotten the have to’s out of the way. Let’s talk about a couple that I’m curious to read if I have the time.
No Exit I feel like I’ve put it on my TBR every winter since its release. This will be the year! lol
I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about the Frostheart series and it’s been sitting on my shelf for probably a year so no better time then now. Really, a wintery middle grade in January sounds perfect to me.
Flawed is one of the first subscription box books I received, and definitely the first Owl Crate one. It’s been too long and I need to at least try it. I love dystopians, I’m just worried it’s been too long.
I have another six books on my potential TBR (and even more unofficial lol), but I don’t have much reasoning behind reading them other than they fit a prompt or two from Reading Rivalry or to meet goals.
Have you read any of these? What did you think? Do you plan on reading any of them? Let me know in the comments below.
