2021 November TBR

Well it’s been a hot minute since I’ve done a TBR, and we’re already 3 days into the month and my plans have already changed – so maybe it was a good thing I didn’t do this just yet. This time around, I’m just going to list the books I’m interested in read – I didn’t break them down into buddy reads, ARCs, and others this time. Ok – all that’s out of the way, let’s get into the books I’m hoping to read this month.

This month was a harder month for me to pick books – I’m just not sure what I’m in the mood for lol.

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff
Vespertine by Margaret Rogers
Little Thieves by Margaret Owen

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff is a buddy read, but I think I would have picked it up this month or last month either way. I love Kristoff’s writing and he’s writing about vampires, so I really can’t lose.

Another group read with TBR and Beyond Bookclub, I’m excited to pick up Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson. I really enjoyed Sorcery of Thorns and I’m hoping for more of the same – fast paced, angsty romance.

Another Margaret! I had wanted to read this last month, but just couldn’t get around to it. Little Thieves is a retelling of The Goose Girl – one I haven’t read – which is a welcome change for a retelling (don’t get me wrong I love beauty and the beast, but I’d love to read other retellings too!).

Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V E Schwab
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas

I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to do my reread of Serpent & Dove. I finally got my FairyLoot edition of Gods & Monsters in September, had planned on reading it then, but knowing I wanted to reread the first two in the series I had to wait until now to do it. I’ve been hearing amazing things though!

I’m actually currently reading The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V E Schwab. I’ve been hesitant to pick this one up because I was expecting whimsical writing – similar to The Near Witch. Luckily I seem to be wrong – it is lyrical, but no in the slow fairytale-esq style I remember The Near Witch being. I’m really enjoying this so far – half way in – so my nervousness about this book seems to be over nothing lol.

Speaking of intimidating!!! I’ve finally decided to take the plunge and read House of Earth and Blood by SJM. This chunky beast comes in at 803 pages! I’ve read that size before, but this book is heavy and like a weapon! Besides the size, I’ve heard people say you have to get well past 200 pages before the book really gets into it. That seems like a lot – but then again, I quickly got through her other books this summer so maybe I’m worrying for nothing.

XOXO by Axie Oh
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling
The Third Wife by Lisa Jewell

To lighten up some of the heavy fantasy I’ve picked out this month I wanted to add in a few contemporaries/thrillers.

XOXO by Axie Oh was one of my most anticipated of the year – probably should review those and see what I should be adding into December…. anyways. I just got my FairyLoot edition in September, but wanted to save it for when I need a light, happy (assuming) book.

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling has been all over Bookstagram and I need to know if the hype is worth it! It happens to be a buddy read too so I’ll have to read it before the discussion date – but this magical romance should fit nicely between those bulky fantasies.

I have a few others, but I don’t know how many more books I’ll be able to do with this page count – 5590 pages! But to give you an idea I’m looking at:

  • Killer Content by Kiley Roache
  • Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefluer
  • Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno Garcia
  • Firekeeperโ€™s Daughter by Angeline Bouley

Have you read any of these? What did you think? Do you plan on reading any of them? Let me know in the comments below.
