2021 June TBR

Half way through the year already! and I think I’ve done one of these a month! Like always, I’ll share a few that I have to read, some that ARCs I want to read, and just some others to throw in the mix. I’m still unsure if I want to participate in any readathons – if any I was thinking the #Whateverathon hosted by Maddie (
@bookbrowsing). That all being said, let’s take a look.

Books I Have to Read

These books are on the list because I have buddy/group reads for them that are being hosted on TBR and Beyond Book Club on Facebook.

Cemetery Boys I’ve had on my TBR for ever, I even have the ARC of it so I’m finally picking it up as part of the group read. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things, so I have high hopes for it.

I’ve seen The Space Between Worlds on Booktube and Bookstagram so many times that I had to pick it up. I tried back in December, but was in a bit of a reading slump so put it down. I’m hoping I end up loving this because of how much everyone else has.

Cattywampus is our groups middle grade read. I’d never heard of this one before sign up, but it was queer so I automatically signed up!

These last two novellas are part of the Horror readalong this month. I’m excited for both since they seem to be fun slashers and written by queer women! I really don’t know anything other than that (just how I like going into horrors lol).

ARCs I’m Prioritizing

Some of these are on my own, while others are part of a tour hosted by TBR and Beyond Tours.

Just Pretend looks like it will be a cute graphic novel that I’ll be able to finish quickly before the tour set for May 31st-Jun 6th. All I know about this ones is a middle grade memoir.

Blood Like Magic is one that I’ve been anticipating and was beyond excited to be part of the tour (June14th-20th).

Eat Your Heart out was one that got on my radar simply for the cover. It just looks beyond fun and I’m hoping it takes a comedic approach to zombies. The tour for this one will run from June 28th-July 4th.

Loveless by Alice Oseman

A Dark and Hollow Star fits a few boxes for me. It’s an ARC, a subscription box book, Queer, and Canadian! I wanted to pick this up when I got it in my Illumicrate box, but just haven’t had the chance until now.

Ok, so this one is a bit of a stretch… I own the physical copy of the UK book, but I grabbed the USA ARC (the cover made me think that it was a different book, but then decided this way I could review the ARC and read a physical too.

I’m also still working through Fire with Fire by Destiny Soria, The Immortal Game by Talia Rothschild, and Spark to Shadow by Atima Kim. I’m still enjoying them and it’s only taking me longer because I kept prioritizing others that needed to be done sooner (and of course now all three of these need to be reviewed ASAP lol).

Ok now for any other book that aren’t buddy reads or ARCs. These are ones I’m really hoping to get through – and you’ll definitely see a theme – I’ve been drawn to this genre recently and I think February fits it perfectly.

I preordered Black Water Sisters last month, but I wasn’t able to pick it up with last month being Middle Grade Mayhem in TBR and Beyond Book Club and focusing on mainly completing my middle grade books.

I’ve had a Kacen Callender book on my TBR so many months now, maybe Felix Ever After will be the one to finally get read!

I’ve heard only amazing things about Pet. I had originally thought it was a middle grade, but had found out last month that it was actually YA. This made me even more intrigued. This is another one I’m hoping lives up to the hype.

I have another 11 books on my TBR this month – so another extremely packed TBR that I’m hoping will get me out of this weird slow reading slump I’ve been experiencing. My plan is to attempt to read all queer books this month. I think all by Eat Your Heart Out is queer in some way (author, character, or both), but every book does have some form of rep in it so I think I’m well on track (plan wise) to meeting that goal.

Have you read any of these? What did you think? Do you plan on reading any of them? Let me know in the comments below.
