Friday Favourites was originally hosted by Kibby on Something of the Book, but is now hosted by Geeky Galaxy. The rules are:
- There is a list of bookish topics
- Write up your post, however you feel, following the topic. Your list can be a list of 2 or a list of 50, whatever you feel like. Go wild!
- Don’t want to write your favourites? I fully support a list of least favourites too!
This week’s topic is Books That Should Really Be a Film/Show By Now. I’m one of those people who have a love/hate relationship with movie adaptations. It is rare that I enjoy the adaption over the book – but when I do it’s usually when I read the book first or didn’t enjoy the book in the first place lol. However, I’ve picked 5 books that I think I’d enjoy being done into a movie IF done right.

City of Ghosts (Cassidy Blake series) by Victoria Schwab
I love this series – and recently reread the first two in the series. I think it would be so much fun to watch The Inspecters. So this is more of a spinoff adaptation that I’d want. Cassidy’s parents are filming for The Inspecters TV show – imagine if that’s what we got to see! I think it would be so interesting – paranormal but with history. Just me?

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
This holiday groundhog day style book would make for such a cute, wholesome holiday movie – Netflix could do it I think. I want a sugar sweet feeling from it like I get from The Princess Switch. I think it would be fun to see Maelyn experience the same week over and over in a quick hour and a half long movie. I’m also picturing Jeff Bridges as the uncle

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T J Klune
This is a hard one. I really loved it and I think it would make for a good movie or tv show… but because I love it I’m really hesitant to suggest it. If they got this wrong then all hell would break loose! But to have them successfully recreate this incredible hug of a book! I would be so happy!

I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee
This is one that would be super fun to watch. Recreate the K-Pop version of American Idol. It was a fun sweet read that had some great rep and to have that translated to a really good movie would make me so happy! Think To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before but a K-pop music competition (that vibe).

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
Ok – hear me out on this one! If this was ever adapted it would HAVE to be animated! I don’t want any live action movies/tv shows touching this one lol. If they went with a movie than directly adapting this would be amazing! You’d obviously have to use Noelle to create the artwork! If they decided on a tv series, then I would want more of a spinoff idea. Following Nimona before meeting Lord Blackheart! I think it as endless possibilities!
Those are just some that I’d like to see adapted, but all with hesitation (like I said at the beginning). With the right people behind it, these could all be really great adaptations.
What do you think? Would you want any of these adapted? Do you have others you’d like adapted instead? Let me know in the comments below.

Ooh I would love to watch City of Ghosts!
