Books

Sanctuary (Sanctuary #1) by Caryn Lix
This was a re-read for me. I still absolutely loved it. The mystery of what’s happening on the space station was tense and I loved the romance. The misfits group of characters we follow are all interesting (well except for a couple, but they kind of…. well doesn’t matter). I did find some extra details here and there that I don’t remember from my first read through. I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the series (another re-read).
I gave it 4⭐
Goals Met:
✔ Read More Scifi

The Sinister Mystery of the Mesmerizing Girl (The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club #3) by Theodora Goss
This entire series ended up surprising me. It was recommended to me by a friend years ago and I finally picked it up. Fell in love it with and the interruptions of the girls within the story. This one kind of continues with the same idea, just a slightly different mystery. I didn’t feel it felt exactly the same because the main villains from the previous books weren’t involved, but the overall feel of the book, plot, and characters were still really enjoyable.
I ended up giving this one 4⭐
Goals Met:
✔ Physically Owned
✔ Backlist
✔ Owned before 2021
✔ Finished a series

Soulless (Parasol Protectorate #1) by Gail Carriger
This one you should see a review for. I haven’t decided if I want to read the entire series and do a mini review for each book or just a normal review for each one – time will tell. I can’t wait to see how the romance develops in book 2 though!
I did give this one I gave 3.5⭐
Goals Met:
✔ Physically Owned
✔ Backlist
✔ Owned before 2021

Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki & Rosemary Valero-O’Connell
This is another one you’ll get a separate review for. I did love the artwork and it wasn’t fully what I was expecting. It ended up with 4⭐
Goals Met:
✔ Backlist
✔ Diverse Reading

Winterhouse (Winterhouse #1) by Ben Guterson
I plan on writing a separate review for this one. I loved it though! This book helped me realize that I do still like middle grade that aren’t based in a fantasy world! I gave this one 4⭐
Goals Met:
None – this book wasn’t on my radar before this month.

Brother by Ania Ahlborn
This again is another book I’m planning on writing a full review for – and likely a spoiler one because I feel like most of what I would need to talk about would be largely spoilers.
Goals Met:
✔ Read More Horror

The Sea Witch (Wicked Villains #5) by Katee Robert
I started binging this series last year over the summer and fell in love. At that time I hadn’t read many smut books, but wanted to try the subgenre out. What better place to start than sexualizing your Disney childhood favourites lol.
Goals Met:
✔Backlist
✔Diverse Reading
So that’s it. Let me know if you want to know anything else. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to include in the end of month wrap up. Also, please recommend some amazing Own Voices books or books written by POC or LGBTIAQ+ authors that I should prioritize this year.

I really keep meaning to get to that Theodora Goss series so thanks for the reminder!
