Book Tour: Cast in Firelight by Dana Swift Book Tag + Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the TBR and Beyond Tours Book Tour for Cast in Firelight by Dana Swift. I was so excited when we scheduled this tour, but a slump has stopped me from starting it. Since I wont be able to finish this book, I decided to create a fun book tag based on the gods/goddesses and magic. Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the tour schedule for other content creators and to enter the giveaway.

Thank you to Dana Swift and Delacorte Press for providing me with an ARC for this review

Meet Author

Dana Swift started making up fantasy worlds when she was eleven years old and hasn’t stopped since. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned degrees in English and Advertising. While in college, Dana competed as a saber fencer and learned a thing or two about fighting, parrying and how it feels to fall in love with your sparring partner. She currently lives with said husband in Miami, Florida.

About The Book

Title: Cast in Firelight
Series: Wickery #1
Author: Dana Swift
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Publishing Date: January 19, 2021
Page Length: 448
Genre: Fantasy
Age Range: YA
Synopsis: The first book in an epic, heart-pounding fantasy duology about two royal heirs betrothed to be married, but whose loyalties are torn, and a ruthless enemy who threatens their world, perfect for fans of Sabaa Tahir, Hafsah Faizal, and Renée Ahdieh.

Adraa is the royal heir of Belwar, a talented witch on the cusp of taking her royal ceremony test, and a girl who just wants to prove her worth to her people.

Jatin is the royal heir to Naupure, a competitive wizard who’s mastered all nine colors of magic, and a boy anxious to return home for the first time since he was a child.

Together, their arranged marriage will unite two of Wickery’s most powerful kingdoms. But after years of rivalry from afar, Adraa and Jatin only agree on one thing: their reunion will be anything but sweet.

Only, destiny has other plans and with the criminal underbelly of Belwar suddenly making a move for control, their paths cross…and neither realizes who the other is, adopting separate secret identities instead.

Between dodging deathly spells and keeping their true selves hidden, the pair must learn to put their trust in the other if either is to uncover the real threat. Now Wickery’s fate is in the hands of rivals..? Fiancées..? Partners..? Whatever they are, it’s complicated and bound for greatness or destruction.

Cast in Fire Unofficial Book Tag

Erif, Goddess of Fire (Red Fortes) – A book with a romance with lots of fire and passion.

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout

This entire series is full of sexy times! So yeah, I’m picking it for a book with lots of fire and passion.

Renni, Goddess of Inner Capability (Orange Fortes) – A book where the main character shows a lot of personal growth.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

There were so many well known books that came to mind, but I wanted to pick one I haven’t heard as much about. Luc grows from a selfish character into one the reader loves and sympathizes with.

Ria, God of Air (Yellow Fortes) – A character that “has a certain air” about themselves. AKA a sophisticated/royal/regal character.

Mary Jekyll from The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter

For this one, I picked Mary Jekyll for someone who was sophisticated. Mary always held herself to “her station” and always felt so prim and proper to me.

Htrae, Goddess of Earth (Green Fortes) – A book cover with plants/flowers/earth on the cover.

Descendant of the Crane by Joan He

This cover is gorgeous (including the flowers) and the author is amazing so I’m jumping at the chance to promote her. Plus I loved the world and political intrigue in this book.

Retaw, God of Water (Blue Fortes) – A book that made you cry.

On the Horizon by Lois Lowry

There were other books that made me cry last year (happy and sad), but this one managed to make me cry throughout – which was amazing because of how short of a book this was – and being poetry.

Raw, God of War (Purple Fortes) – Book with a battle, soldier, or weapon on the cover.

Shielded by KayLynn Flanders

This book took me by surprise and I can’t wait for the sequel to come out!

Laeh, Goddess of Healing (Pink Fortes) -A book that felt like a hug.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

I’ve heard so many people describe this as a hug in book form – and I can’t agree more! If you haven’t read this one yet, put it at the top of your TBR immediately!

Dioc, God of the Cold (White Fortes) – A book full of snow.

The Barren Grounds by David Alexander Robertson

A portal world that is stuck in Winter.

Wodahs, God of Shadow (Black Fortes) – A book with a dark theme/subject/tone.

Grown by Tiffany D Jackson

Dark themes include kidnapping, sexual assault, violence against women, stalking, drug use, abusive powers within the music industry (and many others).
