Out of fear for writing my Wrap Up, I figured I’d set my June TBR. I’m participating in 3 different challenges and two books I need to read for Blog Tours. That being said, you came here for TBR lists, so let’s get started!
TBR & Beyond Book Club: Dobby Goes to Pride
This month in TBR & Beyond, we’re celebrating Pride Month with another Dobby event. For each prompt you dress Dobby up for Pride. Each prompt has you reading a LGBT+ book. I’m really excited to read these book this month – although I have way more that I want to read for Pride month! Here’s what I picked for this month.
Female/Female Relationship: I Kissed Alice by Anna Birch (eARC)
Adult LGBT+ Book (or Middle Grade): Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (reread)
Asexual Character: The Birds, The Bees, and You and Me by Olivia Hinebaugh
Bi or Pan Character: I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee (eARC)
Queer Fantasy: The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen (TBR Group Read & Live Author Chat)
Trans or Non Binary Character: Birthday by Meredith Russo
Queer Contemporary: The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth (eARC)
Cute Queer Cover: In the Role of Brie Hutchenson… by Nicole Melleby
Reading Rivalry June Pride
Reading Rivalry theme this month is Pride. Most prompts focus on LGBT+ and all of my books selected are LGBT+. For the books that are repeats I will simply list them, but only link new books.
Summer Read: I Kissed Alice by Anna Birch (eARC)
Character Forges Their Own Path: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (reread)
Author Highlight (Suzanne Collins, Sarah J Maas, Colleen Hoover): The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
First Love: I’ll be the One by Lyla Lee (eARC)
Own Voices: What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
Reminds You of a Video Game: The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen
Trans/ Non Binary Character or Author: Birthday by Meredith Russo
Complicated Family Situation: The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth (eARC)
Picked Based on the Cover or Title: In the Role of Brie Hutchenson… by Nicole Melleby
Colour of a Pride Flag (Asexual): These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling (also a TBR & Beyond group read and live author chat)
Olympic Games Readathon
This is a new readathon created by Ishi Time. Here you pick (or take the test) your parent god to find out what team (cabin) you’re in. Based on that you follow the Mandatory Criteria and the Advance Criteria (optional). To find out more about this readathon, watch Ishi’s video. After looking at all the prompts, I went with Athena (my test said Artemis). Again, I’m only going to link the new books that haven’t already been linked above.
Bird on the Cover: The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen
Outside Comfort Zone: The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth (eARC) (deals with early onset dementia)
Featuring a School: I Kissed Alice by Anna Birch (eARC)
Longest on TBR: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
Favourite Author: Birthday by Meredith Russo
Character I Wouldn’t Get Along With: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (reread) (wouldn’t get along with Alex in real life)
Most Anticipated: I’ll be the One by Lyla Lee (eARC)
Published in the Last 5 Years: What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
Book that features Magical Creature: Rat Queens Vol 2 by Kurtis J Wiebe
So that’s it. I have a couple other books that I plan on reading that didn’t fit into the prompts, but I’m not putting them directly on my TBR, just in case I don’t get to them. Let me know what you’ll be reading this month. Are you participating in any of these challenges/readathons? Reading any of these?
Wish me luck!
